Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has implemented a relief project for 6,000 drought-affected people in Ethiopia, including distribution of supply baskets in several remote villages, as part of the Horn of Africa relief campaign.
The project was implemented in co-operation with the Erchad Association for Co-operation and Development, RAF’ partner in Ethiopia, which conducted a field study in most needy areas and identified beneficiary families. The study took into account families with no breadwinners, orphans, persons with special needs, the elderly and the sick for relief distribution.
The assistance was provided within RAF’s humanitarian efforts to help and rescue Ethiopians in drought-affected areas, whose number exceeds 6mn. It also came in response to the humanitarian appeal made by the Ethiopian government to humanitarian institutions to quickly rescue those affected by a humanitarian disaster.
In March, RAF launched a relief campaign for the Horn of Africa, aimed at raising QR5mn funds from the benefactors for the relief of those affected by the drought that hit several African countries, threatening a famine in it and allocated QR2mn riyals to provide urgent response to those affected by drought.
