Khetco Club cut short a bold chase by Rawal County and won their Qatar Airways Cricket Tournament Twenty20 match by 13 runs at the West Bay Grounds.
Batting first, Khetco Club’s Naseeb made a flamboyant 56 to help his team reach a formidable 212 for five in their allotted overs.
Naseeb smashed eight boundaries and two sixes in his thrilling 26-ball knock. Yasir, on other end, played a supportive knock of 39 off 30 deliveries, hitting a six and five fours.
Rawal County bowler Moazzam scalped three for 44 in a costly spell.
Rawal County launched a spirited pursuit, led by Israr and Talha, who cracked a half-century each. Israr’s 55 came off only 27 balls as he blasted eight boundaries and two shots over the fence. Talha also contributed 55. He got two sixes and four boundaries in his 41-ball knock.
All-rounder Moazzam sustained the strong reply, hammering half a dozen boundaries in his 31-ball 44. Another player to shine was Abdulhadi, whose racy 20-ball 40 with two sixes and three fours was another bright note. However, Khetco managed to restrict the rivals at crucial moments and pull off the fine victory. Qaramat was the most successful Khetco bowler with two for 39.
In another match, Shanul (three for 18) and Showbeez (two for 2) ran through the Gulf Colour Lagaan batting and inspired Regal Strikers to a sweeping nine-wicket triumph.
Shanul and Showbeez sent Gulf Colour Lagaan crashing all out at 85 in 16.3 overs with only Ameen (28 in 22 balls) putting up some resistance with the bat. Jismon (49 off 22, 10 fours) and Praveen (34 off 16) fashioned the big victory in 7.1 overs.
