More places in the country, including Doha, recorded a maximum temperature of 40C or higher on Wednesday as hot weather prevailed around the country, weather charts showed.

With another warm day expected on Thursday, the Qatar Met department reminded people to drink plenty of liquids and avoid direct exposure to sunlight.

Wednesday, a maximum temperature of 42C was recorded in Abu Samra, while Sheehaniya, Batna, Karana, Jumayliya and Ghuwairiya saw a high of 41C. Doha (airport area), Al Rayyan and Turayna recorded a maximum of 40C, followed by the Qatar University area at 39C. On Tuesday, too, Abu Samra had recorded the highest temperature at 43C.

The minimum, on the other hand, ranged from 22C in Dukhan, Abu Samra, Ghuwairiya, Shehaimiya and Karana to 26C in the Doha airport and Hamad International Airport areas, Al Rayyan, Wakrah and Mesaieed.

A maximum of 42C has once again been forecast for Thursday in Abu Samra, while in Doha it will be 39C. The minimum temperature, meanwhile, will range from 23C in Al Khor, Dukhan and Abu Samra to 26C in Doha.

In a report on Tuesday, the weather office had said there was a “60-70% chance of above-average temperatures” prevailing in most parts of the Arabian Gulf countries until June.

The detailed forecast for Thursday also says it will be hazy in some places in the early hours of the day, followed by hot conditions during the daytime with some scattered clouds.

Hazy conditions are also expected to prevail in offshore areas along with some clouds.
