The heat seems well and truly on as the Qatar Met department has said it will continue to be warmer than usual in the country. In a report yesterday, the weather office also said there were good chances of above-average temperatures prevailing in most parts of the Arabian Gulf countries until June.
The mercury level rose sharply last Saturday (April 8), touching the 40C mark in Abu Samra (42C) and Karana (40C), both in southern Qatar. Since then, it has been quite warm in most parts of the country and similar conditions are likely to prevail in the coming period, the forecast suggests. The Met department said weather charts showed that high pressure in the upper levels would continue to affect the country in the coming days.
The winds will be easterly to southeasterly, which will cause temperatures to continue “rising noticeably above the average levels”, ranging between the late-30C to early-40C levels in most areas, the department has explained. In this context, it could be noted that the average maximum temperature in Doha for April is 33C.
