A large public audience visited the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) yesterday evening to attend a public talk by leading contemporary Chinese artist Ai Weiwei (centre). Organised by Qatar Museums under the patronage of its chairperson, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Ai Weiwei appeared alongside Swiss businessman, diplomat and art collector, Uli Sigg and art expert and curator Tom Eccles, executive director of the Centre for Curatorial Studies and the Hessel Museum of Art at Bard College.
