Four players from Lekhwiya, who claimed their fifth Qatar Stars League (QSL) crown in seven seasons on Thursday, made it to the team of the week.
According to STATS, the official statistical partner of the QSL, Lekhwiya right-back Mohamed Tresor, midfielders Karim Boudiaf and Nam Tae Hee, and winger Ismael Mohamed made the cut.
Al Kharaitiyat stopper Ahmed Soufiane, who inspired Thunders to register their fourth win in five QSL matches with a 2-0 victory over already-relegated Muaither, is the goalkeeper for the Team of the Week.
Soufiane and Tresor are joined by Qatari left-back Abdulkarim Hassan from Al Sadd, while Al Arabi captain Boualem Khoukhi and Al Gharafa’s goal-scoring defender Almahdi Ali make it to the central defense.
In the midfield, the two Lekhwiya players are joined by Al Sadd’s Spanish midfielder Xavi Hernandez, who struck a fine free-kick to open Al Sadd’s scoring against Al Sailiya. Al Sadd lost out on the league title with a 2-2 draw against Al Sailiya.
In attack, Lekhwiya’s Ismael Mohamed gets the nod on the right wing, while Al Kharaitiyat’s Moroccan striker Rachid Tiberkanine is given a place on the left, following his goal in the Thunders 2-0 win over Muaither. Yannick Sagbo gets the nod to lead the line following his two goals, given his performance in Umm Salal’s 2-2 draw with Al Wakrah.
