Ooredoo yesterday announced that its popular Ooredoo Speed Team is growing with the addition of three Qatari motorsports drivers, as the company continues to develop Qatari talent and promote sports.
Thanks to the sponsorship agreement, Ooredoo will support rally drivers Adel Abdulla and Mohamed al-Harqan, and motorcycle rider Saeed al-Sulaiti throughout the 2017 racing season, which will include several important races.
The competitors will receive Ooredoo branding on their vehicles, helmets and jumpsuits as part of the sponsorship.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Ooredoo Qatar’s Community and Public Relations director Manar Khalifa al-Muraikhi said: “Off-roading has been a part of Qatar’s culture for many years. We’re delighted to add Adel Abdulla, Mohamed al-Harqan and Saeed al-Sulaiti to the growing Ooredoo Speed Team, which already supports superstars such as Mohamed al-Mannai, Abdulrahman Ahmed Fakhroo, Ahmad Shaheen al-Muhannadi, Mashel al-Naimi, Fahid al-Sowaidi and our brand ambassador Nasser al-Attiyah.
“We hope supporting and promoting such talented national sportsmen will inspire the next generation to get involved in sports, as well as connect and engaging with motorsport fans in the region.”
Adel Abdulla has won a number of titles and is the current T2 FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies champion. Saeed al-Sulaiti participated in the 2016 Superbike World Championship and recently won the third round of the Qatar Superstock 600. Mohamed al-Harqan placed third in the 2016 FIA T2 World Championship and as a deaf rider, Ooredoo and Mohamed aim to inspire people with special needs.
Ooredoo’s sponsorship is a part of several initiatives the company has undertaken to encourage sports education and inspire more young people to take-up sport. The company is a major supporter of sport across all levels, grass-root, national and international.
