Doha: Two relegation threatened sides will face off in the Qatar Stars League today. Al Khor host Al Shahania knowing that a loss means their chances of survival will take a major blow with just two matches left to play in the season. Both sides are coming into this game on the back of important wins in the last round.
Jean Fernandez’s side are eleventh in the table with twenty-four points from twenty-four games. The Knights ensured Al Wakrah’s relegation when they defeated them 2-0. Al Khor will be looking for the three points against Shahania and they will hope that they don’t face the same fate as Wakrah.
Al Khor’s key to success will be their Brazilian star Madson, who played a vital role in their win against Al Wakrah last week. The midfielder scored a superb goal to open the scoring for his side and to raise his goal tally to seven this season. The playmaker also provided the assist for the second goal scored by Mouhcine Iajour
As for Shahania, they registered a massive win against Al Arabi to keep their survival hopes alive. The Oryxes are now just behind Al Khor in twelfth place with twenty points from twenty-four games. Heading into the penultimate game of the season, Shahania are in desperate need of wins to ensure survival and will see this game as a must win because a loss will confirm their relegation. Igor Stimac will look to Fahad Khalfan for the much-needed goals. The in-form Qatari forward has scored six goals so far this season and he is the top scorer in the Al Shahania ranks. He will be high on confidence after scoring last week against Al Arabi.
Meanwhile, Wakrah will be looking for a moral boosting result when they take on Umm Salal, who are one of the form sides in the QSL and are on seven-game undefeated streak in the league. 
In another match, already-relegated Muaither meet Al Kharaitiyat, who assured their survival for another season with a 2-0 win over Al Ahli in the last match. The Thunders are in good form, picking up four wins from their last five games.
