Discussions on a number of security issues related to cyber security in the framework of preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup are being held at the ongoing second meeting of sports security experts organised by Interpol’s Project Stadia.
Deliberations at the three-day meeting, which began on Sunday and is being held in collaboration with the security committee of Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), aim to support Qatar in its preparations for hosting the World Cup, according to a press statement from the Ministry of Interior.
Major Ali Mohamed al-Ali, deputy executive director of Security Affairs at SC, said the meeting — which is being attended by experts from six countries – is aimed at enhancing security expertise in the field of information and cyber security.
The meeting would help exchange global knowledge and localise them in order to contribute to the development of security in preparation for the World Cup, it was observed.
He pointed out that Qatar hosts such meetings in order to benefit from the experiences of the host countries of major sports events across all levels in the security field, and learn about security measures and preservation of security, especially in the field of information.
“This meeting reflects our commitment to strengthening international partnership in the field of maintaining security for sporting events in the light of growing security risks that are crossing the borders of countries and continents,” he added.
