Strong winds are expected in most parts of the country today along with low visibility due to dust in some places, the Qatar Met department has said.
The weather office has also forecast strong winds and high seas by noon in offshore areas.
Issuing a special offshore warning through a post on social media yesterday, the Met department said the sea warning comes into effect today and continues until Wednesday, April 5.
During this period, strong northwesterly winds will blow at 20-30 knots, with gusts reaching 35 knots, and the sea level will be 6-10ft, going up to 12ft.
In addition, blowing dust is expected during the daytime and this will result in a drop in visibility to below 3km in open areas, in particular.
The Met department has urged people to be cautious in view of the expected conditions and avoid going into the sea during this period.
Today’s detailed forecast says it will be hazy in some areas in the early hours of the day, followed by relatively hot conditions during the daytime. Dust is likely in some places and there will be scattered clouds as well.
Slightly dusty and cloudy conditions are expected in offshore areas today.
The wind speed may reach a high of 34 knots inshore at times and 30 knots offshore, with the sea level going up to 11ft.
A minimum temperature of 21C is likely in Al Khor and Abu Samra today, and 23C in Doha. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 31C in Al Khor and Ruwais to 36C in Abu Samra.
Yesterday, a minimum temperature of 21C was recorded in Abu Samra, Sheehaniya, Qatar University area, Al Khor and other places, while in Doha (airport area) it was 24C. The maximum ranged from 28C in Wakrah to 38C in Abu Samra.
In general, according to the Met department, the temperature may drop a bit today in view of the northerly winds.
