HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani participated yesterday in the 142nd session of the GCC Ministerial Council which was held at the headquarters of the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh. The session discussed the latest regional and international developments and ways to strengthen the efforts made to combat terrorism. The Ministerial Council reiterated its concern over the continued abduction of a number of Qatari citizens in Iraq, calling upon the Iraqi government to assume its responsibility to ensure the safety of the kidnapped citizens and release them. In a press statement released at the end of the meeting the Ministerial Council expressed its condemnation of the Iranian regime’s irresponsible provocative statements and acts of aggression against Bahrain, calling upon the Iranian regime to stop the policies that feed sectarian conflicts. Meanwhile, HE the Foreign Minister also attended the inauguration of the Prince Saud Al Faisal Centre for Conferences in Riyadh. The Foreign Minister said the inauguration of the centre comes in recognition of the late Prince Saud al-Faisal’s outstanding contributions to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Co-operation Council.
