Turkey's tourism sector continued to welcome fewer visitors, with February numbers showing a 6.5% decline compared to the same month last year, which was already a negative month, data from the Tourism Ministry showed on Thursday.
The sector has been in decline since the second half of 2015, owing to political arrest, conflict and terrorism.
As a whole, 2016 was down 30% on the previous year, causing a sharp dip in revenues. The sector is a key foreign currency earner and also supports a large number of jobs.
Turkey saw its GDP shrink in the third quarter of 2016, in part reflecting the abortive coup attempt. Fourth quarter data is out on Friday. Unemployment numbers have also been ticking upward, hitting their highest levels in several years.
There are some signs from booking agents that there is renewed interest in Turkey for the summer, which remains the most important time of year.
The country holds a key referendum next month on presidential powers.
