The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air- Conditioning Engineers (Ashrae) Qatar Oryx Chapter recently organised a full-day seminar in association with Nehmeh, a leading company for industrial solutions in the country.
The event featured key topics on ventilation technologies in Qatar.
Keynote addresses highlighted Qatar’s first and only manufactured Air Handling Unit (AHU).
The event, open to the Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) community in Qatar, also saw the launch of a new and revamped ventilation service from Novovent, a world-renowned fan manufacturer based in Spain.
Simon A Nehme, CBDO, Nehmeh Air Conditioners, updated the audience on current state of ventilation technologies in Qatar and Nehmeh’s contribution as Qatar’s only manufacturer of AHUs and Fan Coil Units.
“It is crucial that value-based HVAC technology be brought to Qatar. Nehmeh is at the forefront on this with Nehmeh Air Conditioners and Novovent among others in our group portfolio of ventilation solutions,” he said.
Abdulla Abdul Wahab, general manager, Nehmeh Air Conditioners, presented Qatar’s first AHU from a technical perspective.
With over 25 years of experience, Abdul Wahab is a leading engineer specialised in HVAC.
He presented on the locally manufactured AHUs and the ability to be customised to produce the right weather in any environment.
An AHU is a central air conditioning station handling the air flow systems that usually will be supplied into the buildings through ceiling vents connected by ductwork to one or more AHUs.
Air quality is treated through filtering elements, cooling and/or heating, humidifying and/or dehumidifying.
Abdul Wahab further elaborated on Nehmeh Air Handling Units’ NRS series which range from 600 CFM to 72,000 CFM with various applications including Standard CFM, Low CFM Application and 100% Fresh Air as well as Heat Recovery System and a Hygienic System.
With the ability to custom-build designs in a variety of combinations to suit developers, consultants and contractors’ requirements, NehCalc AHU software developed by Nehmeh is able to calculate and design indoor air quality, space cooling, energy saving proposal, following Eurovent new energy regulations.
Abdul Wahab acknowledged the important steps the company has undertaken to be certified in ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 to ensure Nehmeh Air Conditioners strictly follow the procedure in each stages of production for high environmental standards.

Novovent’s CEO Jordi Romero and export manager Ramon Vilarino, in their presentations, explained that the company’s range of ventilation fans are manufactured in Spain and have presence in more than 40 countries.
The new series of Novovent fans are ISO certified in compliance with Civil Defence regulations.
