Q-Auto, the official importer of Audi in Qatar, has announced the launch of the all-new Audi Q2 in the country.
“The model, an urban-type vehicle for everyday driving and recreation, marks a unique niche in the premium SUV segment,” according to a statement.
As a debutant in the Audi Q family, the Q2 is a class apart with its distinctive geometric styling. An octagonal singleframe grille is emblazoned on the sculpted engine hood to offer an aesthetic SUV impression from the front, while its broad shoulders, low eye-catching roofline and high windows retain the coupe-like silhouette.
The rear body styling is dynamic with a long roof spoiler and a diffuser that has an underbody-protection look. The design of the Audi Q2 has already won recognition in the automotive industry, including a gold award for “Excellent Production Design – Transportation” at the prestigious German Design Award 2017.
With a vehicle length of 4.19m, the model is notably more compact than the rest of the Q clan. Despite its reduced dimensions, the 5-seater SUV offers ample head and legroom across its plush interiors. There are numerous storage compartments available for all seats, including an extensive luggage compartment with a cargo capacity of 405 litres and luggage capacity of 1,050 litres.
The Q2’s stylish interior has the characteristics of a sports car, featuring adjustable sporty seating for the driver and front-seat passenger and all-round visibility. The cockpit is equipped with high-tech connectivity and infotainment options. The fully-digital Audi virtual cockpit displays highly detailed, brilliant graphics on its 12.3 inch screen and offers two display modes: one focuses on the tachometer and speedometer, and the other emphasises infotainment and navigation data. Another high-tech feature is the head-up display that projects navigation data, vehicle speed and warning messages onto a glass panel in the driver’s direct field of vision.
The SUV boasts an impressive infotainment offering, comprising MMI (multimedia interface) Navigation Plus and MMI Touch with a menu structure and touchpad that allows scrolling and zooming.
The new Audi Q2 offers a selection of three TFSI engines with capacities of 1.0, 1.4 and 2.0 litres. The 1.0 TFSI attains an output of 85kW and 200Nm between the speed of 2,000 and 3,500rpm. The 1.4 TFSI achieves 110kw and 250Nm between 1,500 and 3,500rpm. The 2.0 TFSI engine churns out 190hp, developed with a new combustion process that results in excellent efficiency and power behaviour over the entire engine speed range. The Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system also comes as standard with the 2.0 TFSI engine that ensures optimal traction and handling under any road conditions.
As with all models in the Q range, the Audi Q2 is also packed with a range of assistance systems that underline the model’s high-tech safety blueprint. This includes the Audi Pre-sense Front, Adaptive Cruise-Control with Stop&Go function, Traffic Jam Assist, and the latest-generation Park Assist.
