International integrated chemicals and energy company Sasol received a CSR Leadership Award on the occasion of the launch of the National CSR Report, during a ceremony held at Qatar University (QU).
Sasol was among a select group of companies and NGOs active in the field of social responsibility that were awarded this accolade.
The award ceremony was held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, and in the presence of HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali, who was named CSR Person of the Year 2016.
Phinda Vilakazi, president of GTL Ventures of Sasol, received the award from Dr Hassan al-Derham, president of QU.
A CSR exhibition was organised by QU students, adding to the significance of the day. HE al-Ali and Canadian ambassador Adrian Norfolk visited the exhibition, greeted the Sasol team and the students of QU who were manning the stand and explaining Sasol’s numerous innovative CSR initiatives in Qatar, such as The Health Park with Salem and Sarah board games, Qatar e-Nature, Definitely Able and Accessible Qatar.  In addition to the CSR Award, Sasol’s stand won the first prize from among the numerous stands that were participating. The results were attained through a voting system developed by QU students, engaging visitors to vote for the stand that exhibited the most meaningful CSR initiatives.


Official honoured for ‘innovation’

Jack Saba, general manager of public affairs at Sasol in Qatar, has won the CSR Innovation Award. Saba is a leader in the fields of innovation, communication and entrepreneurship, embarking on many initiatives that have left positive effects on the local society, winning local and global recognition as well as numerous prestigious awards.
Saba was behind initiating Sasol’s award-winning initiatives such as Qatar e-Nature, The Health Park board games and Accessible Qatar.
