Ezdan Mall has witnessed growth in Qatar’s retail sector, and is looking forward to “positive prospects” in the country’s mall sector in the next two years, according to general manager Malik Awan.
Awan made the statement before local and international real estate developers, retail experts, and visitors during a conference held on the sidelines of Cityscape Qatar 2017.
The conference focused on major topics, including Qatar’s retail sector and Ezdan Mall’s level of service excellence, in addition to the Green Dream initiative launched by Ezdan Mall since its inception in April 2013 – a first-of-its-kind in Qatar.
The seminar also discussed the expansion in the leasable space in the three malls owned by Ezdan, as well as the growth prospects of Ezdan Mall following the progress of the retail sector in the country.
Driven by the ongoing infrastructure developments in Qatar, 2022 FIFA World Cup-related preparations led to the increase in sales and the number of stores of international brands entering the
Qatari market.
Awan said: “Ezdan Mall is witnessing an unprecedented leap in terms of commercial and service performance, in addition to its outstanding contributions and support to the social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and afforestation. The mall employs an experienced team that deals professionally with visitors and maintains safety and security all the time in addition to providing the best services to visitors.”
He added: “Ezdan Mall is the first commercial centre in Qatar to offer the Green Dream initiative and is proud of its ongoing endeavours to plant 22mn trees by 2022. We are working as hard as possible to hold many educational events and activities on afforestation, planting, and horticulture.
“We were able to host more than 2,200 students from different schools, in addition to more than 6,000 students for the afforestation educational activities organised by Ezdan Mall, not to mention our great success in establishing a green wall inside the mall comprising
2,650 different plants.”
Last year, the group was able to open the first phase of Ezdan Mall Al Wakir and Carrefour store in Ezdan Mall Al Wakrah. The group is gearing up to launch the rest of the stages in 2017 to serve Ezdan villages residents and the
public in general.
Also in 2006, Ezdan Mall won three awards at the Middle East and North Africa Shopping Centre and Retailer Awards ceremony organised by the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC).
