A total of 2,019 violations were registered for parking vehicles on pavements and pedestrian crossings in February, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Wednesday.
Some 1,390 motorists were also booked last month for overtaking from the right, especially at intersections and signals, the MoI informed on social media.
Also, 288 drivers and co-passengers were booked by the traffic police in the same period for not fastening seatbelts, while 163 motorists were fined for using mobile phones and other devices while driving.
Meanwhile, 192 violations were registered in February for parking in slots reserved for people with special needs.
“Fasten your seatbelt and don't engage in mobile devices while driving. Remember, your life is more important than a call,” the MoI said in a post.
It also advised motorists to consider the rights of everyone while driving and parking and avoid wrong parking.
