The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, in association with the Youth Hobbies Centre, has opened a month-long photography exhibition by Qatari photographer Abdullah al-Mesleh in building 18.
The exhibition, titled ‘Qatar between Dusk and Dawn’ is both unique and intriguing as it captures various moments across Qatar, mostly between sunrise, sunset and nightfall, resulting in some stunning visual imagery caused by the subtle changes in the angle of sunlight.
Inaugurating the exhibition, Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti said the exhibition encompasses all geographical areas of Qatar, from north to south and from west and east and captures the visitor’s attention through some clever photographic techniques that do justice to various landmarks and monuments in the country.

Explaining about the 46 photographs on show, al-Mesleh recalled they were captured over a two-year period, specifically during the seasons of spring and winter of 2016, and the winter of 2017.
“I would like to extend my utmost appreciation to the Youth Hobbies Centre for the incredible encouragement and support they gave me by providing me with photography permits from the authorities concerned.”
The event is aligned with Katara’s efforts to provide a platform to support and encourage artists and talents across the fine arts, performing arts and visual media.
Al-Mesleh also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Katara for providing a platform to display his images.
The opening of the exhibition also saw the winners of ‘Doha and its suburbs’ competition announced and awarded with cash prizes.
The Youth Hobbies Centre will soon organise another exhibition at Katara with the winning images.
