The second phase of Tarsheed 22 (T22) has helped the 22 target schools reduce their annual electricity consumption by 1.100mn units of energy and water by 4,350 cu m and thereby save approximately QR400,000.
The campaign has also helped reduce carbon emissions by nearly 688 tonnes annually. At the awards ceremony it was announced that the three winning schools of the 2015 T22 would receive solar-powered lighting systems in recognition of their contributions to making the T22 campaign a big success.
At the meeting HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada gave away the awards.
The schools which received awards for being the most energy efficient are Othman Bin Affan Model Independent School for Boys, Abu Hanifa Model Independent School for Boys and Abi Ayub Al Ansari Model Independent School for Boys. The winners in the teachers section are Dana al-Fadalah (Abu Hanifa Model Independent School), Farah al-Ani (Abdullah bin Turki Model Independent School for Boys) and Rabia Ali (Al Muthanna bin Haritha Model Independent School for Boys).
The three individuals who won the awards for the best co-ordinators are Maryam al-Hammadi (Othman Bin Affan Model Independent School for Boys), Alyaa al-Marykhi (Alukair Primary Independent School for Girls) and Faadwa Mahjoub (Al Huda Primary Independent School for Girls).
Ola Abdulrahman Mekdad (Alukair Primary Independent School for Girls), Mohamed Abdullah al-Kuwari and his team (Abu  Hanifa Model Independent School for Boys) and Ali Salem al-Marri (Othman bin Affan Model Independent School for Boys) were honoured in the students section.
