Turkish Airlines has extended its support to the fourth annual football tournament, organised by the German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar (AHK).
This year’s event was held at Al Sadd Sports Club and involved star German football player Stefan Schnoor, who also trained participating players, signed autographs and engaged with the public.
The tournament included 12 teams comprising 100 players, representing local and German companies based in Qatar. The event also provided a designated kids’ area with fun activities.
The sports gathering concluded with an awards ceremony facilitated by Peter Zieglar, deputy head of mission at the German embassy.
Nasser Bin Khaled received the winning trophy and took home the first prize, followed by runners-up Qatar Rail and Birkenstock, which took third place.
Mehmed Zingal, general manager of Turkish Airlines – Qatar, said: “Turkish Airlines has a strong association with sports and we are glad to be an integral part of this year’s edition of the Annual Football Tournament in Qatar.
“The idea of sponsoring the tournament is to encourage the game among the youth of the country.
“The annual football tournament is a great initiative and I would like to commend the German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar for having promoted such a professional culture. “We are very pleased to see the outcome so far and wish the next edition an equal success.”
