A group of 25 students from Qatar University (QU) took part in the Tamkeen Club camp activities at Al Sheehaniya city, competing in the final preparations of the value-based competition sponsored by Qatar Charity (QC).
The students have been exerting efforts to win the competition, which revolves around ‘time commitment,’ ‘compliance and obedience’ and ‘ethical competition.’
“Our considerable interest towards university students lies in supporting them and contributing to the development of their life skills,” said Ali al-Gareeb, QC’s public relations manager.
The camp is a platform to help students develop their capabilities in voluntary work, taking initiatives, and time management, he noted.
Al-Gareeb said the activity was held as a part of an agreement signed between QC and QU to support sporting and voluntary activities, and help students who face serious financial problems.
Camp supervisor Faisal al-Haythami said QC contributed to the club’s success by fulfilling the camps voluntary objectives that are represented in augmenting QU students’ values through taking up the challenge. He noted that time commitment came in the first rank among the most significant areas in the competition.
“Now that time commitment is closely linked to the fulfilment of the covenant, which is one of the good morals in Islam, it is an important value that is in need to shed the light on and promote,” al-Haythami added.
“Compliance and obedience are values highly promoted through the competition. Reinforcing these values in these fields help benefit
the public interest,” he said.
Al-Haythami cited ‘ethical competition’ for preventing students from cheating, deceiving others, and using unscrupulous methods, which contradict the spirit of transparency.
