A Doha Criminal Court has fined an expatriate ambulance driver QR500 for failing to abide by traffic regulations at an intersection.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the court also ordered the man to pay QR2,000 in collaboration with the insurance company concerned to a motorist who was injured when the ambulance collided with the latter's vehicle.
The court convicted the driver for not taking the necessary precautions at the traffic light at the intersection. The ambulance driver was on his way to attend an emergency call when he hit another vehicle which was crossing the intersection from the other side.
The court also said that the victim was partly responsible for the accident as he did not give way to the ambulance.
