The diversion is effected to commence works on the link between New Orbital Highway and Truck Route and the East West Corridor, according to a statement from Ashghal.
As shown on the map, the authorities would only shift the existing TTR roundabout 50m to the east of its current location. There will be no reduction in the number of lanes on the new roundabout, and road users will still be able to travel to Salwa Road and Mesaieed via the normal roundabout exits.
To ensure the safety of road users, the speed limit on the TTR will be gradually reduced from 100 kph to 80 kph until traffic reaches the roundabout.
