Al Asmakh registered a Workers’ Cup record with a 20-0 victory over Al Balagh in the second week of the tournament at Al Thumama fields on Friday.
Al Asmakh striker Abubakr Faisal grabbed ten goals as his side proved too strong for Al Balagh in the Group D encounter.
Meanwhile, in Group A, Nakheel Landscapes followed up last week’s big 8-0 win over BOTC with another impressive performance.
Nakheel staved off a determined Galfar side with a thrilling 3-1 win. Mohamed opened the scoring in the 16th minute through a penalty, while Faisal doubled his team’s lead six minutes later with a towering header off a corner kick.
While Galfar pulled one back in the 28th minute, Kanote pumped in Nakheel’s third a couple of minutes later.
In another encounter, BOTC slumped to yet another defeat, with Shapoorji Pallonji posting a 4-1 win. While BOTC opened the scoring in the seventh minute, it was all Shapoorji Pallonji thereafter.
Another team to continue with their winning momentum was ALYSJ, who had opened their campaign with a 4-0 win over Delta Doha Corporation a week ago.
In the second round, three second-half goals from ALYSJ ensured a comfortable 3-0 win over G5 Security.
Albert Turkson steered home the opening goal with a delicate touch in the 34th minute, with Yaw and Vincent scoring the second and third goal respectively.
Delta Doha Corporation, however, bounced back from their defeat with a 4-1 win over Aktor SA.
Delta raced into a three-goal lead before Aktor pulled a goal back. Delta attacker Arjun struck late to give his side a 4-1 win.
In Group C, defending champions Taleb Group posted a clinical 7-0 win over Boom Construction, while the other match in the group, between TRAGS Qatar and Arab Coast Projects, ended in a 2-2 draw.
Mowasalat posted their second straight win in Group D.
Mowasalat scored three goals in eight minutes to blow away the inexperienced Cofely Besix Mannai side and set up an exciting high scoring game ending at 6-1. Mowasalat’s striker Abdul Ghane was the star of the show, grabbing an impressive hat-trick for his team.
Tanzifco, the 2014 champions, suffered a humiliating 11-0 loss at the hands of Larsen & Toubro in Group E.
L&T’s attacker Mohamed Amin scored four goals in his team’s spectacular performance.
Doha Pest edged out QDVC with a slender 1-0 win. A 43rd minute strike by Williams Gaseba did the damage against a much-improved QDVC team.
In an entertaining Group F tie, Al Balagh L&T JV beat Medgulf Construction 4-2, with three of those six goals coming in penalties.
Desert Line ran opponents Dico-Tech ragged as they ended their second game of the tournament with a thumping 8-0 win.
Six of their goals came in a devastating first-half display as Dico-Tech crumbled.
In the battle for supremacy of Group G, Bhakta Bhandari salvaged a deserved point for Outlook Trading, scoring in the 56th minute to level the game at 1-1 against Dulsco Qatar.
AALCO notched an impressive 5-0 win over NAAS Group.
Kevin Otieno stole the show grabbing a hat-trick as Gulf Contracting company sealed a comfortable 7-0 victory over Carillion.
G4S picked up a close 1-0 win over AGME in a keenly fought encounter, with Raju Chilwal scoring the winner.
