The Community Police has launched an awareness campaign under the theme ‘Pleasant season and safe camping’ in collaboration with the Media and Awareness Section at the Traffic Department, Civil Defence and Qatar Red Crescent.

A team comprising personnel from the participating agencies will visit different camping and coastal sites in the State during the campaign, according to a report on the Ministry of Interior’s website.
As part of the launch, the team visited the Sealine area on Friday and provided awareness lectures to campers. The campaign will continue until next week.
The aim of the campaign is to increase awareness about the dangers that campers, especially children and youth, may face. Sealine, for instance, is known for its sand dunes and youths like to drive around in such places, said Lt Fadel Nasser al-Saadi, Community Police officer. “Parents must not allow their sons to ride motorcycles between vehicles, which makes them prone to accidents,” he added.
Lt Abdul Wahid Ghareeb al-Anzi, traffic awareness officer, said: "We visited winter campers in their camps, especially in the Sealine area, and talked to them about safety measures, children’s safety and gave them advice on how to remain safe from accidents in the desert. We have advised parents not to allow children to drive without licences. In this case, only the parents will be held responsible.”
Further, he stressed that children must not go to places or hills that could be dangerous.
This is the for the second year that the Media and Awareness Section is visiting camps and speaking to campers about safety measures and how to enjoy safe winter camping without accidents, Lt al-Anzi added.
