The Centre for Entrepreneurship (CFE) at Qatar University College of Business and Economics (QU-CBE) hosted Entrepreneurship Day 2017 recently.
The event was held to introduce QU students to entrepreneurship and familiarise them with the various services and activities offered by CFE.
The event, sponsored by Commercial Bank, was attended by CBE dean Dr Khalid Shams M A al-Abdulqader, CFE director Dr Mahmoud Abdellatif, and Commercial Bank AGM, head of Sadara Wealth Management, Bouchra Sebbata, and other officials from the bank as well as CBE faculty, staff and students.
The event included an opening speech by Dr Khalid Shams M A al-Abdulqader, a presentation on CFE activities in 2017 by Dr Mahmoud Abdellatif, entrepreneurs’ success stories by five entrepreneurs from QU and an entrepreneurship feedback workshop. 
It also included the distribution of awards to winners of the three best entrepreneurship success stories. The first-place winner was QU recruitment specialist Othman al-Minhas for his story, ‘Xdensity’. The second-place winner was QU associate professor of mechanical and industrial engineering Dr John-John Cabibihan for his story, ‘Tin Can Wearable Technologies’, while the third-place winner was Fatima Jafar Qaedi for her story, ‘QU ID’.
Dr al-Abdulqader said, “This event demonstrates the continuous efforts of Qatar University in general and the College of Business and Economics in particular to support entrepreneurship within and outside the university, and promote the relationship between QU students and entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship institutions in Qatar.”
Dr Abdellatif said, “This event reflects CFE’s efforts to support SMEs and the national economy and aspirations towards a 
knowledge-based economy.”
