The prices of fruits and vegetables at the Central Market dropped by 2-5% in January, compared to the previous month and by 10-11% compared to the same period last year. According to the figures released yesterday by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce the prices of fish also dropped by an average of 7% during January compared to the same period last year and around 3% compared to December last year. The prices of meat and animal fodder remained steady.

Qatar condemns blast in Lahore

Qatar yesterday condemned the blast that took place in the Pakistani city of Lahore, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries. “This criminal act is contrary to all values, ethics and humanitarian principles,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The Ministry stressed Qatar stands in solidarity with Pakistan and reaffirmed Qatar’s stance on rejecting violence and terrorism, whatever their motives or causes. The statement expressed Qatar’ condolences to the families of the victims and to the Pakistani government and people.
