Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) conducted recreational and informative activities in Doha and Al Khor on Tuesday to mark National Sport Day.
A special section was set up at Katara the Cultural Village for diverse athletic activities, as well as free medical services for visitors of different ages and walks of life.
With support from Olympic Sports, all events commenced at 6.30am and visitors encourage to engage in sport matches and activities designed for various age groups.
Many QRCS officials, staff, and volunteers took part in the events, including secretary-general Ali Hassan al-Hammadi, executive director Youssef Ahmed al-Hammadi, Human Resources and Administrative Services director Nayef Faisal al-Mohannadi, and communications director Issa Mohamed al-Ishaq.
QRCS’ section held several activities, including a briefing to visitors about its humanitarian mission and the value of volunteerism. It also included sport activities for adults and children such as exercising, football, volleyball, tennis, running, and other games.
At Katara and the Diplomatic Club, QRCS medical officers welcomed visitors, distributed health awareness publications, trained them about first aid and CPR, performed blood sugar/pressure tests for free, and covered the areas with ambulance vehicles and bicycles.
QRCS’ branch at Al Khor also conducted health and sports activities at the Al Khor Sports Club, in co-operation with Qatar Guest Centre.
A QRCS fleet of 40 ambulances, 130 paramedics, and 15 doctors were dispatched around different locations yesterday to take care of visitors and respond to possible emergencies. Locations included the Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, the Diplomatic Club, the Doha Corniche, Aspire Zone, The Pearl-Qatar, and Al Khor.
