The Al Mana Group of companies has announced the opening of a “new and exclusive luxury cinema concept” - FLIK Cinemas – at Lagoona Mall in West Bay on Thursday.

The new cinema, which offers four screens and a total of 172 seats, is the “first dedicated Platinum and Gold Class multiplex in the GCC region", according to a press statement.

Two further multiplexes will follow at Mirqab Mall and Doha Mall, providing an additional 16 screens within the next 12 months, the company has said.

At Lagoona Mall, FLIK Cinemas, an Al Mana Group company, will “deliver an unprecedented cinematic experience in opulent surroundings, where modern technology meets the classic art of film-making”, the statement notes.

The Platinum and Gold Class multiplex will feature custom-designed genuine leather reclining seats paired with tables and cup coolers. To complement the experience, guests can choose from a “carefully designed menu by Fauchon Paris, offering a wide variety of elegant cuisine to be ordered from and delivered to the client’s seat in the Platinum theatre”.

A personalised service waiter will also be available at the touch of a button via a personal iPad. Food and beverages ordered will be delivered on a tray service, while blankets and pillows are also available.

The company noted that FLIK is the “first cinema” in Qatar to use the world-leading combined cinema technologies of Christie Digital Projection & Vive Sound, the award-winning cinema solution that “exceeds all expectations and represents acoustic and projection engineering at its finest”. By harnessing these technologies, FLIK Cinemas will redefine the experience of “going to the movies”, the statement added.

The FLIK concept will expand in the near future to Mirqab Mall on Al Nasr Street, with 1,000 seats spread over eight theatres, and Doha Mall in Abu Hamour, with 1,400 seats spread over eight theatres, including the wide-screen FlikMax concept.
