A series of activities marked the sixth National Sport Day festivities held at Katara - the Cultural Village under the theme “Show the Game Skills.”

The activities were in association with various sectors, including ministries, municipalities, educational institutions, and medical centres, as well as a number of associations and federations.
Hundreds of residents participated in a range of activities, which started at 9am and concluded at 6pm. Also, certified trainers were present to lead visitors, while free physical examinations were also available to all visitors.
The Qatar Armed Forces had an exclusive booth with active performances for sport enthusiasts, which included a step show, circuit training, spinning and racing speed coordination for kids, and an exhibition outlining major athletic awards.
The Al Khor Sports Club involved visitors in a diverse selection of athletic activities, including basketball shooting, table tennis, tug-of-war, workout station, and ‘baby-foot’, while Qatar Red Crescent provided skipping rope and conducted football matches.
The Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation, on the other hand, performed numerous friendly matches and a trainer was present to initially teach kids the basic techniques of boxing and wrestling.
The Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation organised Katara Aquathlon, which presented a fun, friendly and unique swim and run experience while racing competitions were also held. The Qatar Air Sport Committee also demonstrated a paratrooper show, decorating Katara skies with National Sport Day flags.
Aside from the sports competitions, cash prizes were awarded to the top three winners of the jogging competition for participants aged 50 years and above. The first place winner received QR5,000, while the second and third place winners received QR4,000 and QR3,000, respectively.
Apart from an array of athletic activities, bottled water, wristbands for children, raincoats, and useful brochures on health, fitness tips, and nutrition advices were distributed to Katara’s visitors yesterday.
This year, the Cultural Village was keen on developing an advanced, scientific and health approach that combines sports with miscellaneous activities that aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030.
