Turkish Airlines has launched its first flight between Istanbul and Conakry, capital of Guinea in Africa.
The service will be available two times a week, the airline has said in a press statement.
“With this new addition, Turkish Airlines has expanded its network to 51 destinations on the continent, the largest number of destinations among all carriers. It is, thereby, cementing its position as the carrier that flies to more countries than any other airline, with 296 destinations in 120 countries,” the statement noted.
Conakry joins a widening destination portfolio in West Africa that includes the city-hubs of Accra, Abuja, Bamako, Dakar, Abidjan, Cotonou, Douala, Yaounde, N’Djamena, Ouagadougou and Niamey.
The service will provide a link between Istanbul Atatürk Airport and Conakry International Airport via Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso.
The return flight will give passengers departing Guinea access to top global destinations such as London, Dubai, Paris, Frankfurt, Muscat, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Brussels, Berlin, Amsterdam, Vienna, Asmara, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Milan.
Ahmet Olmutur, chief marketing officer of Turkish Airlines, said: “Our entry into the Conakry route is a testimony of our faith in the Guinean people and economy. This milestone strengthens the position of our airline as the one that flies to more countries than any other air carrier globally.”
The flight schedule is as follows: TK537 departing Istanbul at 6pm (Monday, Thursday) and reaching Ouagadougou at 10pm, and then departing Ouagadougou at 10.55pm and arriving in Conakry at 1.05am (+1); and TK 538 departing Conakry at 2am (Tuesday, Friday) and reaching Ouagadougou at 4.10am, and then departing Ouagadougou at 5.05am and arriving in Istanbul at 2.10pm.
