Qatar and Tajikistan signed a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding following a session of official talks chaired by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
The talks reviewed bilateral relations and means of developing them on all fronts, particularly in the fields of economy and investment.
The meeting also discussed the latest regional and international issues and exchanged views on topics of common concern.
Following the talks, the Emir and the Tajik president witnessed the signing of the following agreements and memoranda of understanding.
1. A co-operation agreement in the fields of security and culture;
2. A Memorandum of Understanding on sports co-operation between the Qatar and Tajikistan Olympic Committee;
3. A Memorandum of Understanding between Qatar Central Bank and National bank of Tajikistan;
4. A co-operation agreement in the legal field between both ministries of justice;
5. A co-operation agreement in education, higher education and scientific research;
6. An Air transport agreement;
7. An agreement on health sector.HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani attended the signing of the agreements and memoranda of understanding.
The signing was also attended by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and several ministers.
Members of the delegation accompanying the Tajik president also attended the meeting and the agreement signing ceremony.
Earlier, an official welcome ceremony was held for the Tajik president upon his arrival at the Emiri Diwan.
Following the agreement signing ceremony, HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani hosted a luncheon banquet at the Emiri Diwan in honour of President Emomali Rahmon and the delegation accompanying him.
The banquet was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and a number of cabinet members.
Separately, HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani also met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov yesterday.
They discussed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them in the economic and investment fields.
They also reviewed the latest political and security developments in Central Asia and the Middle East.
The two sides reviewed the results the second meeting of the Joint Qatari-Tajik committee on economic, commercial and technical co-operation that was held last year.
President Emomali Rahmon  also met the Speaker of the Advisory Council HE Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.
During the meeting, they discussed parliamentary relations between both countries and ways to develop them.
The meeting was attended by HE the Secretary-General of the Advisory Council Fahad bin Mubarak al-Khayareen and ambassador of Qatar to Tajikistan Ali bin Mubarak al-Mohannadi.
Later in the evening, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon left Doha concluding his two-day official visit to Qatar.
President Rahmon and his accompanying delegation were seen off at Hamad International Airport by HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, ambassador of Qatar to Tajikistan Ali bin Mubarak al-Mohannadi and the ambassador of Tajikistan to Qatar Ardeshir Qaderi.
