Scholars from Canada and Qatar came together at the University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ) to share knowledge and investigate ways the two countries can work together to improve healthcare.
More than 100 academics and healthcare professionals from both countries discussed how data science can be used to help improve patient care while managing costs effectively.
“Healthcare organisations around the world are seeing an increase in demand for services,” said conference chair Dr Emmanuel Ngwakongnwi. “This means that the importance of harnessing data and analytics is increasing all the time. Scholars are looking for ways to work together to share experiences and learn from each other about techniques to capture, store and use data for disease surveillance, monitoring quality of care and health system
performance.”
The conference was organised by UCQ and sponsored by the Qatar National Research Fund and the O’Brien Institute of Public Health at the University of Calgary in Canada. It featured scholars from the University of Calgary and Ottawa Hospital.
