The competitions of the first round of Al Galayal traditional hunting championship will start today at Al Areek Reserve, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported yesterday.
The festival revives the traditional hunting traditions with the participation of a number of teams within set categories.
Mohamed Nihar al-Nuaimi, executive director of the championship, stressed that the new season of the championship will include ‘fantastic surprises’ for the lovers of such traditional events, as the championship has gained a good reputation throughout the region.
He said that the teams would be able to start hunting from the second day of the event, which will contribute towards enhancing their performance. Al-Nuaimi also stressed that the organising committee will consider any suggestions to improve the event.
Meanwhile, the participating teams have expressed their happiness in taking part in the event, with some of them returning for the third time. They also expected that the competitions will be more intense during this edition, due to the high skills of the participants. The competing teams include some from the other GCC countries and the rest of the region as well.
