Strong winds in all areas, dust and cold conditions are expected in Qatar on Thursday along with scattered rain, the Met department has said.
The weather office has also issued a warning for offshore areas as strong winds and high seas are likely there.
The wind speed (northwesterly) may go up to 28 knots in some inshore areas at times and 35 knots offshore, where the sea level may rise to 12ft.
Inshore areas will be relatively cold during the day and slight to blowing dust is also expected at times. It will also be cloudy and there is a chance of scattered rain. The night will be “very cold”, the Met department said.
Dusty and cloudy conditions are also likely in offshore areas and there is a possibility of rain towards the north.
The Met department tweeted around 10.30pm Wednesday that the weather would gradually become cloudy in the coming hours with a chance of scattered rain over the country on Thursday.
Another tweet said a band of dense dust had formed in northern Iraq and might affect the country on Thursday as a result of the expected strong northwesterly winds.
The mercury level is expected to drop significantly on Thursday as a minimum temperature of 9C is expected in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Abu Samra, 10C in Dukhan, 11C in Al Khor, 12C in Ruwais and 13C in Doha. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 16C to 18C in the country.
On Wednesday, a minimum temperature of 12C was recorded in Abu Samra until 5.30pm. In the capital, the minimum was 17C in the Doha airport area.
