A Doha Criminal Court has also ordered their subsequent deportation, according to local Arabic daily Arrayah.
The matter came to light when a local camel owner discovered that three of his camels were missing. He went to neighbouring farms and asked the people there, including the three defendants who used to work in one of these farms, about his camels.
However, nobody could tell him anything about the camels.
The owner then informed camel traders about the missing animals and brought the matter to the attention of traders at the Central Market too.
After a few days, he found one of the three camels in another person's farm and asked the owner where he got the animal from. The man led him to one of the defendants, who had sold him the camel.
The defendant confessed to the crime and led the police to his accomplices. The trio said during investigation that the camels were sold for QR9,000.
While the first and second defendants got QR2,000 each, the third received QR3,000 from the sale, the daily reported. The rest of the amount was given to other farm workers to buy their silence.
