Al Ahli’s first team manager Fahad Ali has confirmed that the club has found an able replacement for departing striker Firmin Mubele in former player Mojtaba Jabbari. The Brigadeers official confirmed the news, along with his thoughts ahead of his side’s match of the week clash against Al Rayyan in an exclusive interview with QSL online.
Ali opened up the conversation with a word on Jabbari who had started as a professional player with Al Ahli at the start of the season; before being taken out with a long term injury. “The return of Mojtaba Jabbari will be a major boost of Al Ahli, he knows our club well and his work rate will be important in the second half of the season.”
“We wish Mubele all the best on his new adventure in France. He was one of the best strikers in the QSL this season, and that has been recognised with a move to a major European league” noted Ali when asked about his thoughts on Mubele’s move to Stade Rennais in Ligue 1.
Talked turned to Ahli’s upcoming match of the week clash against Al Rayyan, and the Brigadiers first team manager is confident his side can get a good result. “It will be a challenge in playing the current QSL champions, however we have won our last three games and confidence is high in the squad. Last time we lost 2-1 to Al Rayyan, and we will be looking for revenge in this game.”
Despite being on a winning run in the league, Ali did reveal that Yusef Adam’s side will be without a number of key players for the game on Friday evening; “ John Benson, Younis Ali & Mohsen al-Yazidi will be unavailable through injury. Whilst Ahmed Maqsoud will be absent after picking his fourth yellow card of the season against Al Khor.”
Ali ended the brief interview with a rallying cry for his side. “We have showed plenty of character in recent weeks and I think that this will continue with a win over Al Rayyan, despite our absentees we have a squad full of strong players, and I expect them to step up for Al Ahli in this game.”
