A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Qatar University (QU) and the Qatar CSR network has been extended for three years, until 2020, it was announced recently.
The extension came in continuance of successful co-operation between the two entities, especially to inspire university students concerning the concept of social responsibility through numerous initiatives that took place over the past three years under the supervision of Dr Bader Abdullh al-Esmael, QU’s CSR Committee head, according to a press statement.
The initiatives include the National CSR report, academic studies and research, specialised lectures and workshops, and the CSR exhibition.
Sheikh Khaled bin Faleh bin Saud al-Thani, chairman of the Qatar CSR network, said: “Our partnership with Qatar University is an honour. We are keen to provide continuous support for the fruitful CSR march. We will always be ready to meet the requirements of this partnership, which culminated last year in funding a research study conducted by the CSR Committee at Qatar University with the participation of the university’s students to develop their abilities and sharpen their talents in the fields of research and surveys.”
He stressed that the CSR research’s recommendations were a “source of pride” as they proved that Qatar was one of the leaders in the region in the field of social responsibility and supported Qatar National Vision 2030.
They also highlighted the CSR initiatives of Qatari companies as an important part of increasing competitiveness and a successful tool to stimulate brand awareness and help build positive relations between their employees and the surrounding community.
“The research outputs also revealed that the Qatari companies are aligned well with the needs of CSR towards the government and interact positively with it.”
The Qatar CSR network has been publishing the National CSR report since 2012 and QU hosts the launch ceremony annually.
