HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on Thursday attended the graduation ceremony of the 12th class of officer cadets from the Ahmed bin Mohamed Military College.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani attended the graduation along with a number of ministers and ranking officers of Qatar's Armed Forces, the Ministry of Interior, and the military colleges of friendly countries.
The Qatari national anthem was played upon HH the Emir's arrival. The commander of the parade then requested HH the Emir to review a parade performed by the graduates.
Delivering a speech on the occasion, Commander of the Ahmed Bin Mohamed Military College Brigadier Abdullah Abdulrahman al-Kaabi expressed his delight at HH the Emir's presence at the graduation ceremony.
Al-Kaabi said that the 12th class included 90 officer cadets of the Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, Lekhwiya, Emiri Guard, and state security. He noted that the graduates received training in Qatar, Mongolia, Britain and France that helped elevate their spirits and strengthen their sense of belonging to the country and HH the Emir.
Commander Al-Kaabi added that the experience will help the new graduates play their part in Qatar's renaissance.
Al-Kaabi said that the college co-operated with a number of other institutions abroad - such as Kuwait's Ali Al Sabah Military Academy and Britain's Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The latter carried out training in Qatar last November.
The Ahmed Bin Mohamed Military College also attracted high-quality cadres from different countries to provide the best service possible in terms of military academic programmes and training techniques.
After the speech, HH the Emir honoured the 'Honours Students' of the 12th class. They included Officer Cadet Mohamed Khalfan al-Mansouri who came joint-first in military science, first in law, first in leadership and first in physical fitness, the Second Honours student Abdullah Hussein al-Marri and third Mohamed Fahid al-Faheeda and Ghanem Sultan al-Ghanem, who came first in police science, and Mohamed Mahfouth Mohamed, who came first in information systems.
HH the Emir then honoured Brigadier Hamad Ahmed al-Nuaimi, former commander of Ahmed Bin Mohamed Military College, in appreciation for his efforts in developing the college.
Later, the Emir viewed a performance by the Pakistani military band, comprising 52 military personnel. The ceremony concluded with the graduates taking the oath as the national anthem was played.
Earlier in the morning, HH the Emir met the heads of a number of military colleges from the Gulf and friendly countries. They were in Qatar to attend the graduation ceremony of the 12th batch of officer cadets of Ahmed bin Mohamed Military College.
During the meeting, topics of mutual interest were reviewed.
The meeting was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and several ministers.
