HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani attended the graduation ceremony of the fourth batch of students of Al Zaeem Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al Atiyyah Air College at Al Udeid Air Base yesterday.
HH the Emir arrived at the main podium as the national anthem was played, and the commander of the parade came forward to request the Emir to review the parade staged by 23 graduates.
The ceremony was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and a number of ministers as well as ranking officers of the armed forces and senior Interior Ministry officials.
Addressing the ceremony, College Commander Brigadier (Pilot) Salim Hamad al-Nabit said that Al Zaeem Air College has been keen, since its establishment, to prepare its graduates professionally and scientifically. The study programmes are in line with the requirements of modern times and technology in the field of aviation.
He noted that the college’s programmes are fully compatible with the needs of the Qatari Armed Forces in general, and the Air Force in particular, in the fields of combat and aviation, and supporting disciplines. It is the first air college to provide two disciplines to students for a bachelor’s degree in flights science.
The college has made great strides in the field of theoretical and practical training with the best global talent in the field of pilot training, he said, adding that it has started the preparation of national cadres for pilot training by holding courses for coaches and supervisors, as well as advanced courses on the (PC-21) aircraft and electronic warfare courses for pilots.
Following the address by Commander Brigadier (Pilot) Salim Hamad al-Nabit, the graduates staged a military parade.
The Emir then honoured outstanding graduates: The first in total grades and first (helicopter) Abdullah Mohamed Khalaf al-Sheikh al-Kuwari; the second in total grades Ali Nasser Eid Jassim al-Muhaizea; the third in total grades Ali Hassan Mohamed Turki al-Sebaiee, the first in aviation (Fighter), competence, and physical fitness Rashid Mohamed Ali Mohamed al-Kubaisi; and Commander of the Parade Mohamed Jamal Nasser al-Awami al-Hajeri.
Following the awards presentation ceremony, the fourth batch handed over the flag to the fifth batch. An order for promotions was read out and the graduates took the oath.
The Emir watched an airshow staged by the aircraft of the Emiri Air Forces and the college on the occasion.
