The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) has welcomed a judicial delegation from Bahrain.
Faisal al-Sahouti, CEO of QICDRC, briefed the delegation on the nature of the QICDRC, its jurisdiction and its procedures.
This was followed by a discussion on common issues regarding judicial matters and, in particular, the operation of courts.
The delegation included Abdulla Yacoub, judge of the court of cassation; Abdulla al-Ashraf, judge of the high civil court of appeal; Ali al-Dahrani, judge of the high civil court of appeal; Mousa al-Mousa, judge of the high civil court of appeal; and Mohamed al-Shareef, director of legal excellence in the GCC Council. Also present was Nasser al-Khulaifi, judge of the court of appeal – Supreme Judiciary Council, Qatar.
Al-Sahouti emphasised the importance of exchanging expertise between both countries in order to assist in the development of the legal and judicial infrastructure, which will ultimately lead to the more effective delivery of access to the courts and justice.
Following the discussion, the delegation toured the QICDRC’s facilities, visiting the courtroom and ADR centre. The delegation was given a brief explanation of some of the court’s procedures, including the possibility of appeal against a judgment and how any appeal request shall be passed to a chamber of appeal to see if the request is legitimate or not.
