The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s (MME) Agriculture Affairs Department has launched a programme that aims to market high-quality Qatari vegetables at Al Meera stores.

The MME said the programme was launched to market local vegetable produce, which are grown in farms that engage modern production technology.
The partnership between MME and Al Meera, as one of the leading retailers supporting local products in the country, aims to give adequate marketing opportunities to display such products for customers, while providing enough supply for increasing demand.
A joint study by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce’s consumer protection section and MME was established to place several conditions and standards for the marketing of high-quality local vegetable products at the consumer complexes.
To meet such standards and conditions, the vegetables should be produced at greenhouses using sophisticated production methods, the products should be packed in specially-designed, high-quality packages, and each participating farmer can choose the design of his packets, which should carry the motto particular to the products to ease the process of controlling them by the department and other concerned entities.
The MME said this guarantees that consumers would get high-quality local products similar to other imported vegetables at suitable prices.
