Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has participated along with 13 leading Qatari companies in the recently-held ‘Arabplast 2017’ at the Dubai World Trade Centre to promote Qatari products across local, regional, and global markets.
Through the support of its export arm, ‘Tasdeer,’ QDB showcased the Qatari manufacturers at the Qatar Pavilion. The convention, which includes exhibitor and visitor participation from across Asia, Europe, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, is considered the biggest plastics, petrochemicals, and rubber industry exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region and the third of its kind in the world.
The participating local manufacturers in ‘Arabplast 2017’ included Al Amoudi Plastic Factory, Al Jattal Industry, Al-Sada Factory for Plastic Pipes, Asima Plastic Factory, Behzad Plastics Products, Chem-Tech International Factory, Doha Plastic, Doha Regional Plastic Solutions, Qatar Integrated Plastic Bags Factory, Qatar Plastic Products Company, Qatar Polymer Industrial Company, Sarplast, and Twyla.
Hassan Khalifa al-Mansoori, executive director for Tasdeer, said, “One of our key strategic goals at QDB is to provide local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) access to regional and global markets.
“We aim to orchestrate our efforts in a way that will meaningfully advance the national development agenda and achieve economic diversification through providing our local SMEs the leverage of international exposure, as envisioned in the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
He added, “This maiden participation at ‘Arabplast 2017’ signals our dedication to invigorating foreign trade and increasing cooperation between national and foreign companies through opening new markets for local businesses.
“Tasdeer frequently partakes in international exhibitions and determinedly upholds the central organisational objective of placing Qatari products across shelves in the global marketplace.”
Citing QDB’s participation at ‘K2016’ in Dusseldorf, Germany, al-Mansoori noted that QDB linked Qatari exporters with international importers “in mutually-beneficial and long-lasting arrangements.”
In the past, Tasdeer has “contributed greatly” to promoting the presence of Qatari exports in foreign markets through a wide range of activities and events such as international exhibitions, bilateral trade cooperation programmes, and training workshops.
Furthermore, the research team at Tasdeer regularly publishes their findings in a variety of manuals with specialised instructions such as ‘Trade Secrets: The Export Answer Book for SMEs’ and ‘Qatar’s Exporters Directory’.
In addition to offering local exporters valuable consultation, the Tasdeer publications provide information on access to QDB’s financing and insurance coverage solutions available to Qatari exporters against the risk of a loss of funds inherent in the global export trade.
