Qatar University (QU) signed an agreement with Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) to strengthen their existing relations in the field of research and training.

The agreement was signed by QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham and QMC CEO Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Thani in the presence of officials from both institutions, as well as QU faculty and staff.

The agreement aims to benefit QU students and QMC employees in addition to attracting Qatari students and alumni of QU to work in various positions within the field of media such as directors, journalists, presenters, sports commentators and/or analysts, TV producers, photographers, and bilingual editors and translators.

In the terms of the agreement, QU will select students to receive training courses under the umbrella of QMC in many TV channels and radios such as Al Kass Sports Channels, Qatar TV, Qatar Radio, and Sout Alkhaleej FM.

QU will also host QMC to attend lectures, activities and events organised by the Department of Mass Communication at the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). QMC will provide training opportunities to QU students and alumni, provide full-time employment opportunities to the trainees who pass the probation period and collaborate with QU students and faculty to conduct research projects.

The terms of the agreement will be implemented at QU through its Career Services Center, Center of Continuing Education, and Department of Mass Communication at CAS.
