Wakrah Municipality Health Control Section conducted 215 field inspection tours in December last year covering 1,410 food outlets. Reports issued were for 57 instant violations of Law No 3 for 1975 on the commercial and industrial houses and public utilities, six violations of Law 8 for 1990 on the regulations of human food control, and 10 outlets were obliged to sign affidavits to remove their violations.
As much as 600kg of food products were destroyed for being unfit for human consumption. The total fines amounted to QR141,900. In addition, the section received 12 related complaints during the same period. A total of 12 technical inspection visits were conducted to issue licences to as many new shops.
