The Court of Appeal has sentenced four Bangladeshi men to three years in jail and subsequent deportation for detaining and torturing two of their compatriots and grabbing some money from them.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the issue started when one of the defendants tricked the first victim into meeting him at his accommodation claiming his sponsor needed him for a certain task.
As soon as the man arrived, the four defendants detained him and started to attack, demanding a ransom be paid by his relatives in Bangladesh, failing which they threatened to kill him.
However, the victim, based on a request of his captors, asked the second victim to join him. The two were then detained and tortured for three days before being rescued by the police, the daily added.
