The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has conducted a surprise inspection campaign on the food  storehouses across the country. The campaign resulted in issuing a report for violation of law no 8 for 2008 on  Consumer Protection to a storehouse for keeping 93,464 pieces of various expired food items, in addition to 10 and a half tonnes of expired rice. Legal procedures were taken against the storehouse. Such violations entail a penalty of administrative closure of the place in addition to a fine ranging from QR3,000 to QR1mn.
