Woqod plans to build mobile petrol stations to provide fuel to areas where there are not adequate fuel supply outlets and a huge demand, Qatar Fuel announced.
According to Woqod, the mobile petrol stations have been “hugely successful” in reducing pressure on the other stations and meeting customer requirements in other regions, as they provide all petrol products and services motorists might need.
Last year was a year of “great achievements”, Woqod said. During 2016, Woqod launched some 19 stations (including mobile petrol stations) across Qatar. The total number of Woqod service stations across Qatar is now 56.
Woqod chief executive officer Ibrahim al-Kuwari said, “In 2016, we opened 21 fixed service stations and a further seven mobile petrol stations that are distributed across different regions in Qatar especially in North, South and West.”
Last year, Woqod opened “fixed service stations” in the following locations- Sudantheel station on Salwa road, Smeisma, Ain Sinan, Thameed, North City, Old Al Ghanem, Msheireb, Al-Muntazah and Al Rayyan. Additionally, Woqod opened stations at Al-Wukair and Mashaf in the area of Al-Wukair and Southern Wakra.
Nine other stations are in the final stages of getting the required permits in Al-Aqla (Lusail), Auqda (Al-Khor) Abo Nahkla (Salwa Road), Aba Sulil (Southern Road), Hamad International Airport and Um Guilina. The work is in progress in further stations including New Salata, Thumama, Jabal Thulieb (Lusail), all due to open upon receiving the final permits in 2017, Woqod said.
In addition to the existing technical inspection centers, new centres are coming up. Al Sheehaniyah is completed while the ones at Al-Wukair and Al-khor are in the final stages.
