Doha Municipality’s Health Control Section conducted a total of 1,189 regular inspection tours in December within Doha city.
It also conducted 31 other specific inspection tours based on consumer complaints. Such tours resulted in issuing 96 violation reports to the outlets that did not abide by the standards of food and health regulations.
Veterinarians from the Meat Health Unit of the Health Control Section examined 70,512 carcasses of slaughtered sheep, and destroyed 346 whole carcasses in addition to destroying around five tonnes of meat found unfit for human consumption.
While a total number of 502 cows were checked, only two carcasses were destroyed. The unit also checked 602 camels and five carcasses were completely destroyed with around four tonnes of meat.  They also inspected 738 tonnes of local fish and crustaceans and destroyed two tonnes. In addition, they inspected 1,041 tonnes of imported fish and crustaceans and destroyed 19 tonnes.
As much as 8,900 tonnes of vegetables and 8,540 tonnes of fruits were inspected with 12 tonnes of vegetable and eight tonnes of fruits destroyed.
The Environmental Protection and Protectorates and Wildlife Department patrols  of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has spotted a violation of discharging water unfit for human consumption at an undesignated location at Al Sayliyah and took action against it.
