Indian ambassador Periyaswamy Kumaran has appealed to his compatriots to avail of the opportunities around them to build a meaningful career while being in Qatar.

The envoy said this while formally inaugurating the `Pongal Vizha’ celebrations of the newly formed Qatar Indian Youth Tamizhar  Sangham  (QIYTS) at the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) on the weekend.
By recalling the experiences of his student days, the ambassador also told the well attended gathering how one could build a career if he had a clear focus and determination in life.
Speaking later Doha Bank Group CEO R Seetharaman echoed similar feelings and asked the community members to put in some extra efforts to be successful in life. The top banker also highlighted the importance of one’s own mother tongue even  while he or she is away from the home country.
Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Siva V Meyyanathan (Alungudi), Dr Rajamoorthy and film actor Bose also addressed the meeting.
Meyyanathan said the Indians in Qatar are really fortunate to have a dedicated and hardworking ambassador like Kumaran to take care of its expatriates.
He also recalled that the envoy’s sister P Amutha, an Indian Police Service officer, had earned enormous respect and goodwill among the Chennai residents for her remarkably good services to the people during the devastating floods that hit the Tamil Nadu capital in 2015.   
ICC president Milan Arun, General Manager of Integrated Enterprises Ashraf Ali, Business Development Manager of Teyseer Group Pasupathi Anand, Vasuki Sathyababu of Birla Public School, QIYTS President Raju Murugan, Ramachandran Annadurai and T R Balaji spoke.
Tamil speaking children of the country’s Indian schools performed an array of art and cultural items. They also recited  Bharatiyar poems.
Ranjan Raju, P R Krishanmoorthy, Ranjith Kumar, Sheikh Abdulla Ghani, Jayachandran, N P Sitrarassu, Ganeshan Ravichandran , Shoukat Ali, R Palanisamy, S Balasubramanium, T Dhinakaran and A V Swamy were the main organisers of the event.
QIYTS office-bearers thanked Integrated Enterprises Company, Doha Bank,  LuLu Hyper Market,  Exblowra Trading & Contracting,  Dohanta Innovative Distribution and South Indian Restaurant for their support to make the event.
